How to wear white in winter?

Comment porter du blanc en hiver ?

Winter: the season when we love comparing our complexion to an aspirin tablet.

So how can you wear white in winter without feeling like you’re blending into the background?

Vary the textures

We’ve all been afraid of looking like a snowman when trying an all-white look…

So to avoid that, mix up the cuts and textures!

In keeping with Catwoman, faux leather is the big trend this season. And yes, faux leather also comes in white (beige / ecru), and we love it! Nevertheless, always prioritise high-quality faux-leather pieces.

To feel as though you’re staying wrapped in your blanket all day, you can also opt for chunky, super-soft white or ecru knit sweaters.

Another ideal fabric to wear in white is denim.

For this, favour mom or boyfriend cuts to avoid the effect of skin-tight jeans that say, “I overdid it on the Yule log during the holidays.”

Choose one white piece

You can vary the different shades of white or pair it with other complementary colours. We promise we won’t suggest making you look like the French flag.

We recommend camel, ecru and grey.

Don’t hesitate to accessorise your outfit for extra style!

A chunky belt with a buckle, a bag with a gold chain, hoop earrings… Anything you can find to rival Lady Gaga will do the trick!

How do you care for white clothes?

Yes, white is cool, but when it turns yellow, it’s less appealing.

As Grandma used to say, “A little hydrogen peroxide and the job’s done!”

So let’s get started: soak your clothes in a mixture of hot water and hydrogen peroxide for a snow-white result (this method is a little slower but is recommended for delicate fabrics).

Otherwise, if you want to keep your laundry as bright white as a Colgate smile:

Soak it in a mixture of half white vinegar and half water, then wash everything in the machine (vodka doesn’t work).

In short, white is a colour that can easily be worn in winter, even though we tend to think it’s more suited to summer.

However, make sure to follow some of the guidelines we’ve mentioned to avoid looking like a snowball.
